CHRISTIE + TIMOTHY MASTOROS
25 JUNE 2016
GREEK ORTHODOX CHURCH OF ST GEORGE + THE GREEK CLUB
PHOTOGRAPHY: Porfyri Photography

Christie Conomo and Timothy Mastoros were married at the Greek Orthodox Church of St George and a reception followed at The Greek Club. Christie was dressed by George Elsissa: “My wedding gown was designed and made by the talented George Elsissa who is in Sydney. His team worked to create my dream gown which consisted of a 5 metre long train of tulle, sheer back and incredible beaded lace. It was so beautiful, although difficult to sit and fit in the wedding car – but it was worth it!” Hair by Perry Paraskos and makeup by Mandi Anatasas, The Blush Clique.
OUR HIGHLIGHTS
Christie: “The highlight of the day was seeing Timmy’s face when I walked down the aisle. I had been looking forward to that moment for a long time and when I walked down the aisle and stood next to him, I felt so relaxed and excited to begin the next chapter of our lives.”
Timothy: “Definitely waiting to see Christie’s face when she came into the Church to see me for the first time that day. I was relieved to see her (glad she showed up haha). I was also amazed at all the hard work Christie and all the vendors put into making everything so beautiful.”
NEWLYWED ADVICE
“Our advice would be to cherish every moment leading up to the wedding. The preparation time goes so quickly and your big day is there before you know it. Advice that we were given leading up to our wedding day (and that we would like to pass on) would be to take a moment on the day to step aside together and reflect on the day and how everyone is there to celebrate you both.”

KIRRI + JOEL CROMBIE
11 JUNE 2016
THE CHARMING SQUIRE
PHOTOGRAPHY: Life in Bloom

Kirri Veijalainen and Joel Crombie were married in a ceremony and reception at The Charming Squire in South Brisbane. Kirri wore a Sheike dress and her hair was by Theo Dimitri Hair @ Rouge Hair and makeup by Brooklyn Read.
OUR HIGHLIGHTS
Kirri: “I loved getting ready, relaxing all morning with my family and friends. I loved seeing all our hard work come together and come together so well.”
Joel: “Seeing my bride before the ceremony, we did a ‘reveal’ at the hotel. I was also very happy when all the formalities were over, we could then relax, dance, drink and eat.”
NEWLYWED ADVICE
“We changed our wedding plans three months before tying the knot! We brought the date forward and changed the location. It worked out so well for us and our guests. It was the best party. Take a step back and think what is important and who is important. This is one day, a wedding should not take over your life in terms of preparations.”

MARIANNA + GEORGE IACOVOU
26 SEPTEMBER 2015
GREEK ORTHODOX CHURCH OF ST GEORGE + MODA EVENTS PORTSIDE
PHOTOGRAPHY: Porfyri Photography

For her wedding to George in September 2015, Marianna chose a stunning dress by Leah De Gloria. Her hair was by Mary Screpetos and makeup by She Styl’n. The venue was styled by Celebrating in Style and their dream wedding cake was by Stephanie’s Cakes.
OUR HIGHLIGHTS
Marianna: “On the morning of the wedding day, George wrote me an emotional letter and bought me a pre-wedding gift. He is not usually a man for romance and reading that letter was so emotional for me, I couldn’t wait to make him my husband.”
George: “Reaching the reception and seeing the amazing set up. Partying with my family and friends and of course my wife! Our entrance was the best, she is just too organised and even surprised me with the fireworks.”
NEWLYWED ADVICE
“Anything that can go wrong, will go wrong BUT don’t sweat it! We had some major issues arise the day before and the day of the wedding but as long as we got married, that’s all that mattered. It isn’t just about the one day, it is about your future lifetime together. Let go and have fun!”

RENAYE + NICK KELIS
13 JUNE 2015
GREEK ORTHODOX CHURCH OF ST GEORGE + THE GREEK CLUB
PHOTOGRAPHY: Porfyri Photography

When Renaye Rostagno became Mrs Nick Kelis, she wore a custom made George Elsissa gown. Her hair was by Indigo Cut and Colour and makeup by Sanaz Gouda.
OUR HIGHLIGHTS
Renaye: “It’s hard to pick just one moment from the day as there were so many special moments. I loved walking into the church to meet my future husband. The love in the room was amazing as we were greeted by family and friends for the first time as husband and wife.”
Nick: “Looking over my shoulder and seeing my beautiful wife-to-be for the first time.”
NEWLYWED ADVICE
“Don’t let the small things stress you along the way. It may all seem a little overwhelming, but everything will come together in the end. Break things down into smaller tasks and everything is achievable. We had a few mishaps along the way that were totally out of our control, but I just kept a positive attitude and didn’t let anything ruin my vision.”

SARAH + BRODEN SCHMEIDER
28 NOVEMBER 2015
REDEEMER CHAPEL, ROCHEDALE + THE GLEN, EIGHT MILE PLAINS
PHOTOGRAPHY: Studio SW19

Sarah and Broden held their wedding ceremony in the Redeemer Chapel, Redeemer Lutheran College, Rochedale. A reception followed at The Glen in a silk-lined marquee. Sarah was dressed by Sugar and Spice, Chermside and her hair and makeup was by Bella Brides.
OUR HIGHLIGHTS
Sarah: “My highlight was walking down the aisle and for many reasons – seeing all our close family and friends who were there to witness our special day, having my mum walk by my side, seeing Broden’s face… and lastly, surprising Broden with a recording of me singing ‘Someone Like You’ from the musical ‘Jekyll and Hyde’. The words perfectly expressed how I feel about the love of my life.”
Broden: “My biggest highlight was being announced as husband and wife!”
NEWLYWED ADVICE
“We recommend having a small list of back-up guests that you can call at the very last moment to come to your reception, in case someone else can’t come. You have paid for the meal and don’t want it to go to waste!”

TESSA + MATT HARDY
19 SEPTEMBER 2015
LITTLE FLOWER CHURCH, KEDRON + THE STATE LIBRARY OF QUEENSLAND, SOUTH BANK
PHOTOGRAPHY: Matt Officen Photography

Tessa wore a gorgeous dress from White Lily Couture when she said “I Do” to Matt in the Little Flower Church at Kedron. Her makeup was by Abigael Johnston Makeup Artist and hair by Kyleen Phillips of Depth Events.
OUR HIGHLIGHTS
Tessa: “Every part of the day was special but I loved that moment when I walked down the aisle and saw my soon-to-be-husband for the first time, standing at the end of the aisle, waiting for me. I remember seeing everyone I love looking back at me, many in tears, and that is a moment I will never forget.”
Matt: “I loved every second of the day, but especially in the limo as we left the ceremony. We had our best friends in the car, champagne was flowing and the music was pumping and I had that ‘We just got married, it’s our wedding day!’ feeling!”
NEWLYWED ADVICE
“Try to be as organised as possible with the wedding planning process and on the day… don’t stress about the small things that may go wrong. As long as you’re married by the end of the day that’s all that matters. Always tell each other you love each other multiple times a day. They say your wedding day is the best day of your life and it truly was. Every part of the day was perfect and we had the most amazing day. Afterwards we honeymooned in Europe for a month.”

LAUREN + MIGUEL OLIVEIRA

CANDITTA + JOHN WILSON
12 SEPTEMBER 2015
AVALON WEDDING GARDENS, MT TAMBORINE + PALAZZO VERSACE, MAIN BEACH
PHOTOGRAPHY: VAN MIDDLETON PHOTOGRAPHY

Canditta’s dress was from the Alfred Angelo Disney Bridal Collection from Casar Elegance. Her hair and makeup was by The Powder Room… “There’s something innocently magical about Disney. Ever since I was a little girl, I was inspired by the magic of Disney Fairytales. From Cinderella’s Pumpkin Carriage to Belle’s grand ballroom entrance with majestic crystal chandelier, we were sure to incorporate these elements into our wedding with sophistication and style.”
OUR HIGHLIGHTS
Canditta: “Being carried through the wrought iron gates by 2 Clydesdales pulling my very own Cinderella Pumpkin Carriage. When the carriage circled the fountain and stopped in front of the red carpet, I stepped out and looked up, seeing my Prince Charming awaiting anxiously at the altar. That was the highlight of my day.”
John: “Seeing my bride in the Cinderella Carriage and getting the present from my bride in the morning… K bars and Kina!”
NEWLYWED ADVICE
“Get lots of sleep leading up to the wedding and especially the night before. Be prepared for the unexpected to happen. My Father passed away the Saturday before our wedding and I was exhausted come the wedding day (even though it didn’t show). A lot of pressure was taken from us by allowing family and friends to support us with whatever we needed. But trust me on the beauty sleep brides and you can always sneak in a 1 hour massage.”

CANDICE + BRENT BEVAN
18 JULY 2015
RESTAURANT TWO
PHOTOGRAPHY: RONEY MASTERS

Candice and Brent wanted their wedding to be like a big party so they decided to have their photos taken beforehand so they could go straight into the cocktail reception once the ceremony was over. “It was brilliant for us because Brent’s first look at me was a lot more private and we remained relaxed during the ceremony.” Candice was dressed by Fiorenza, “I always thought that the ‘dress process’ would be hard, however Pina made me feel like family the moment we met. I loved the first dress that I tried on and Pina consistently ensured that I was happy, comfortable and looking great. I felt like a million dollars on the day thanks to Fiorenza.”
OUR HIGHLIGHTS
Candice: “Seeing all of our family and friends dancing the night away.”
Brent: “The ceremony… Annie Molenaar was so personal and she made us all laugh the entire time.”
NEWLYWED ADVICE
“Don’t worry so much about what other people think! And make sure you make time to talk/have a drink with and dance with your new husband/wife.”

LAUREN + REGAN FINLAY
25 OCTOBER 2014
ST JOHN’S CATHEDRAL BRISBANE + CLOUDLAND

When Lauren walked down the aisle of St John’s Cathedral to marry the love of her life, she wore a stunning dress by The Babushka Ballerina. Her hair and makeup was by Bella Brides.

Regan: “My main highlight was the first time I saw my Bride when she came around the corner to walk down the aisle.”
NEWLYWED ADVICE
“To take in every moment! Enjoy this special time with each other as Husband and Wife.”

SOPHIE + PIERCE WITTKE

OUR HIGHLIGHTS
Sophie’s highlight was: “Most definitely seeing Pierce’s face when I was walking down the aisle.” And Pierce’s highlight was: “When our Celebrant announced us husband and wife.”
NEWLYWED ADVICE
“Any moment that feels like its getting away from you… take your time to take the moment in, slow every moment down otherwise the day is over in a heartbeat.
After your special day, don’t be so quick to get back into everyday life. If you feel like you are ‘getting cranky’ with one another, take the time to remember and appreciate the greatest moments from your time together.”

MEGAN + TODD WALDON
9 MAY 2015
MT COOT-THA BOTANICAL GARDENS + THE SUMMIT RESTAURANT
PHOTOGRAPHY: EVERNEW STUDIO

Megan was dressed by Babushka Ballerina, her hair was styled by Isabella Jane Hairstyling and makeup by Natalie Lucas Makeup.
OUR HIGHLIGHTS
“We really enjoyed the ‘first look’ before our ceremony. It gave us time alone together for our photographs before the ceremony which was really special. The entire day from start to finish was amazing. We loved being surrounded by all our loved ones, friends and family.”
NEWLYWED ADVICE
“The day goes so quickly so take a few moments to just stop and look around and absorb everything. Enjoy every little moment!! I was overly organised during the planning stages, with one spreadsheet containing all the supplier details, seating plan, schedule and dietary requirements – which helped everyone involved to come together to make the day run really smoothly.”

WILD WHIMSY PHOTOGRAPHY

Jessie and Evan were married at Tangalooma Island Resort on Moreton Island. “We both love the beach and coastal feel so we knew this was perfect for us.” The ceremony was on the beach overlooking the picturesque shipwrecks. Jessie was dressed by Rachel Gilbert Bridal. The ceremony was styled by Beautiful Beach Weddings and themed with bamboo arbour, natural seagrass aisle and Americana chairs. The reception was located in a large white marquee situated right on the beach. The reception was themed with lace, burlap and baby’s breath. The marquee opened up to the water and had the feel of ‘being on your own secluded island’. Their causal reception turned into one of the most lively dance parties, with DJ Cut-A-Rug keeping the dance floor going until the very end.
BRIDE’S HIGHLIGHT
“Seeing Evan’s face as I walked down the aisle.”
GROOM’S HIGHLIGHT
“When they finally announced Mr and Mrs Shannon.”
NEWLYWED ADVICE
“Enjoy every moment of your special day as it really does go fast.”

Samantha was dressed by Serenity Bridal and Formal and her hair and makeup was by Jessica Lollies Hair and Karly Dover Makeup Artistry.
BRIDE’S HIGHLIGHT
“At our reception, having photos taken on the staircase with our photographer and about 50 Chinese tourists wanted to take photos. We had to stop taking our photos for about 15 minutes!”
GROOM’S HIGHLIGHT
“The first second I saw my beautiful bride walk through the doors of the chapel.”
NEWLYWED ADVICE
“Write a cute, heartfelt letter to each other to open on the morning of your wedding and read it at the same time.”

NATALIE GOODWIN + ANDREW EVANS
17 AUGUST 2013
THE CATHEDRAL OF ST STEPHEN + THE GREEK CLUB
PORFYRI PHOTOGRAPHY

Natalie was dressed by Brides of Brisbane and her hair and makeup was by The Powder Room. “We have been together since we were teenagers and over the past 6 years, we have been in a long distance relationship with a combined total of 13 months overseas. We knew that we were both in it for the long run and our wedding was the perfect reflection of our love for each other.”
BRIDE’S HIGHLIGHT
“I’m a naturally shy person so walking down the aisle was one of the things that scared me the most… but when I saw all my friends and family smiling at me with such love I felt so touched that they were all so happy for me and were there to celebrate our special day. I believe that moment will stick with me forever.”
GROOM’S HIGHLIGHT
“Dancing.”
NEWLYWED ADVICE
“Organise as much as you can ahead of time so you can relax as much as possible on the day but try not to procrastinate too much on the little things (it will drive you crazy!) and take in as much as you can on the day. Everyone says it goes by really quickly which is true and you will want to relive it as much as possible.”

BROOKE THOMAS + MARTIN VAN RENSBURGH
3 NOVEMBER 2013
COOLIBAH DOWNS
PHOTOS COURTESY HEATH BENNETT & CAMERON ARNOLD

Brooke wore a dress by Lazaro, New York and her hair and makeup was by Mia Connor. The wedding ceremony contained lots of laughs and lots of tears. The couple had friends involved, wrote their own vows and released doves at the end of the ceremony. The bride made the groom’s bow tie and gifted it to him the morning of the wedding (given to him by the groomsmen). There were many personal touches and DIY details for the event along with creative activities and games for their guests.
BRIDE’S HIGHLIGHT
“Walking down the aisle and seeing my husband excited and emotional to see me. Everything else walking down that aisle was a blur… except seeing his face.”
GROOM’S HIGHLIGHT
“Seeing my bride walk down the aisle towards me.”
NEWLYWED ADVICE
“Make a little bit of extra time to spend together always! Planning can be hectic so take the time out regularly to do something together.”

JOCELYN UNWIN + ANTHONY STICKLEN
1 JUNE 2013
KENILWORTH HOMESTEAD
JACK TRAN PHOTOGRAPHY

Following a ceremony in The Barn at Kenilworth Homestead, Mr & Mrs Sticklen celebrated with family and friends in The Dining Hall. Jocelyn’s dress was from The Babushka Ballerina and hair and makeup by Innovations Hair and Beauty at Gympie.
BRIDE’S HIGHLIGHT
“Seeing everything come together and hearing about how nervous my otherwise unflappable new husband had been before my arrival. Most of all seeing all the emotion on his face as I met him at the altar.”
GROOM’S HIGHLIGHT
“Seeing how much hard work Jocelyn had put into making it such a special day and realising that no-one else could have made it so magical.”
NEWLYWED ADVICE
“Don’t stress the small things and accept offers of help from friends and family. Enjoy every minute of the day because it goes by so quickly. While DIY may seem like a fun inexpensive way to do things, I actually found it was just as cheap (if not cheaper) to work with a wedding stylist and function coordinator. Most of what I wanted, the stylist already had and they set everything up on the day and cleaned it up afterwards. I can’t praise them enough.”

ANGELA TIERNEY + BENJAMIN JOHNSON
19 OCTOBER 2013
ST JOHN’S CATHEDRAL + MIRRA
BEN CLARK PHOTOGRAPHY

Angela found her perfect dress at Spurling. She wore MAC makeup and her hair was by Brooke Newton Hair. “Our wedding was vintage inspired and we had the most amazing day, I never thought I would have so much fun on our wedding day but I spent the whole day with the biggest smile on my face… although I am very close to my father so he was a bit emotional, which was very sweet.”
NEWLYWED ADVICE
“During the day just take a moment to absorb everything around you. Breathe through any dramas that might happen and just have a fabulous time! And before the wedding, instead of talking about the day all the time – arrange ‘wedding date nights’ when you plan and organise it together.”

EMILY BARTORILLO + WILLIAM BECKETT
4 OCTOBER 2013
ALBERT STREET UNITING CHURCH + CUSTOMS HOUSE
CASSANDRA LADRU PHOTOGRAPHY

“Our beautiful wedding day was filled with such an abundance of love, joy and happiness – we could not have asked for a more perfect or memorable day!”
BRIDE’S HIGHLIGHT
“It is so incredibly hard to pick my highlight of our wedding as there were so many precious and memorable moments throughout the entire day that I could go on forever listing all of them! Walking down the aisle with my dad to the love of my life and best friend was a very special moment that I will never forget. The look on Will’s face when he saw me for the first time was so comforting and made me even more excited for the vows we were about to make to one another.”
GROOM’S HIGHLIGHT
“For me I don’t think there was ONE favourite moment… I had a few. The first time I saw Emily at the end of the aisle before she started towards me, she just took my breath away. I have never seen anyone as beautiful as Emily right then in that moment. Then there was the first kiss. By far the best ‘first kiss’ of my life. I didn’t even notice the masses of people all watching us. All I could think about was my new wife and how happy I was that we had just promised ourselves to each other. Our first dance… again one of those moments that I will never forget. To be in the middle of the most important day of our lives and to feel like we were the only ones in the room at that point in time was just so beautiful. It felt like for those few moments, time stood still. Nothing else mattered to me right then apart from being right there, in that moment with my beautiful wife… it was perfect.”
NEWLYWED ADVICE
“Take in absolutely every moment throughout your day and try to relax and just enjoy yourselves! All the hard work has been done, so have fun celebrating the day and night with each other and all of your beautiful guests who have come to celebrate your love.”

Alda’s wore a dress from White Lily Couture and her hair and makeup was by The Powder Room. “Even though it was probably one of the worst weekends weather-wise (Australia Day weekend – which I think we all remember!), everything still went off the way we wanted it to and without too many hiccups thanks to our wonderful suppliers). We had our family and friends and us… ultimately this is what we wanted our day to be about – LOVE!”
BRIDE’S HIGHLIGHT

GROOM’S HIGHLIGHT
“When I looked at my wife-to-be and said “I Do” to her. It was a moment of pure joy for me – just to see the look on her face and in her eyes, it just meant the world to me.”
NEWLYWED ADVICE
“Communication is key, this person is meant to be your soul mate and best friend, so talk to one another! And never, ever go to sleep on an argument! Always remember why you fell in love to begin with and never stop dating each other. Make every moment together count.”

BRISCHETTO PHOTOGRAPHY

Caragh wore a dress by Brides of Brisbane (Maggie Sottero). Hair by Rawinia and Makeup by Porcelain Face Makeup Artistry.
BRIDE’S HIGHLIGHT
“The highlight of my day was when we were announced as Mr & Mrs Cooper for the first time and walking back down the aisle together. Surrounded by our beautiful family and friends and with my soulmate holding my hand, I have never felt such overwhelming love and support as I did in that moment.”
GROOM’S HIGHLIGHT
“Caragh & I went off site to capture some of the late afternoon sun in our photos and video. It was the highlight of my day, because it felt like just her and I, having just a few moments to ourselves as husband and wife.”
NEWLYWED ADVICE
“Don’t let the stress and fuss detract from the reason you are doing it all in the first place! You’re there to marry your best friend and nothing should overshadow that. The opinions that count the most belong to the both of you, so make sure you put them first.”

LOUISE KNYN + SIMON CLARKE
22 JUNE 2013
NEWSTEAD HOUSE + RESTAURANT TWO
COOKOO DESIGN AND PHOTOGRAPHY

Louise wore a dress by Casar Elegance and her hair and makeup was by The Powder Room and Establishment Hair Skin and Body… “The day went off without a hitch, despite it raining the night before and being on the same night as the England VS Australia Rugby Game.”
BRIDE’S HIGHLIGHT
“My highlight of the day was being able to finally eat the cake which I had designed so many months ago!”
GROOM’S HIGHLIGHT
“Surprising our guests with a choreographed array of dance moves during our first official dance… Salt n Pepa brought the house down!”
NEWLYWED ADVICE
“There are 3 pieces of advice which Simon and I follow and would like to pass on to others… 1. Keep communication open and honest… 2. Learn when it is the right time to talk about difficult subjects (it may be the right time for you but not for the other)… 3. Never go to bed angry with one another.”

SEPHORA JOHNSTON + KIRIT CHAUHAN
6 APRIL 2013
ST AUGUSTINE’S, HAMILTON + HILLSTONE ST LUCIA
SILVER EDGE PHOTOGRAPHY

Sephora and Kirit met while studying and living on campus at the University of Queensland. Almost 10 years later to the day, this gorgeous couple tied the knot! Many of their wedding photos were taken at the university as it held so many very special memories for them both.
BRIDE’S HIGHLIGHT
“There was so much laughter and joy throughout the day. Just when I thought that things couldn’t get any better, Kirit surprised everyone by singing our first dance song, ‘Lady in Red’ by Chris de Burgh – which in his version became ‘lady in white’!”
GROOM’S HIGHLIGHT
“Sharing special moments with so many family and friends was a big highlight of the day for me. Nothing beats that moment when the most beautiful woman in the world walks down the aisle towards you and you just stop, breathe and are physically and emotionally blown away.”
NEWLYWED ADVICE
“Treasure every moment and remember that it is the little bungles that make the journey more entertaining!”

MEGAN McGARRY + CARL MARSHALL
6 APRIL 2013
ST STEPHEN’S + CUSTOMS HOUSE
CHRIS HALL PHOTOGRAPHY

Megan and Carl were married at the Cathedral of Stephen’s and held their reception at Customs House. Megan wore a White Lily Couture dress and her hair was by Vanessa at Stelios Papas and makeup by The Makeup Room.
BRIDE’S HIGHLIGHT
“Walking into our reception venue for the first time. Carl and I were finally married and I was able to see our vision for the evening come true which was really special. It was also really nice to not be photographed for a few moments and spend some time walking through the room together… and sneaking a few lollies from the Candy Buffet before the guests arrived!”
GROOM’S HIGHLIGHT
“Seeing how calm and happy Megan looked as she walked down the aisle. I was expecting her to be very emotional as she cries watching “say yes to the dress”. Turns out I was the nervous one, especially after our Priest informed us at our wedding rehearsal that he likes it when the Bride and Groom know their vows instead of being prompted during the service. I was anxious that I would forget the few lines under pressure so being able to recall these correctly was a huge relief!”
NEWLYWED ADVICE
“This is your wedding day and it only happens once. Soak in every single moment as it goes by too quickly. Hire professionals who know what they are doing and be sure to sneak away during the reception for a quiet moment and glass of champagne together.”

CHANTELLE JOHO + MICHAEL HILEY
28 MARCH 2013

“Listening to my husband’s speech on the night as he wore his heart on his sleeve!”
GROOM’S HIGHLIGHT
“Standard… seeing my beautiful bride at the top of the stairs before walking down the aisle towards me!”
NEWLYWED ADVICE
“Don’t let the small things weigh you down. You’re together to love and enjoy the company of your best friend.”

ALISSA GIANARAKIS + ANGUS McDOUGALL
24 NOVEMBER 2012
GREEK ORTHODOX CHURCH OF ST GEORGE + MODA EVENTS PORTSIDE
JESS MARKS PHOTOGRAPHY

200 guests attended the wedding of Alissa and Angus at the Greek Orthodox Church of St George which was adorned with an abundance of flowers. The ceremony was steeped in tradition. Alissa wore a custom-designed Steven Khalil wedding gown which was complemented by the elegant, white Bariano dresses worn by her bridesmaids. Hair and makeup was by The Powder Room. A reception followed at Moda Events Portside. Styled Events transformed the room with an eclectic mix of round and square tables with short and tall flower arrangements and gold Napoleon chairs. A beautiful bridal table backdrop featured over eight metres of ceiling-to-floor draping, individually suspended crystal chandeliers and an abundance of flowers.
BRIDE’S HIGHLIGHT
“I have two very special highlights. A very poignant and special moment for both Angus and I was the sparkler ‘send off’ in memory of my Grandfather who sadly passed away earlier in the year. Set against a backdrop of the Brisbane River and the beautiful city lights in the distance, guests lined the balcony and raised lit sparklers to form a spectacular tunnel through which we departed the venue. My second highlight would have to be our first dance to ‘A Thousand Years’ by Christina Perri. During the last moments of the song, fireworks shot up from the balcony lining the entire glass wall and illuminated the room, creating a very romantic effect.”
GROOM’S HIGHLIGHT
“It was my wedding day, so the whole day was special and wonderful… but watching Alissa walk down the aisle, knowing that she was about to become my wife, was a moment I will never forget.”
NEWLYWED ADVICE
“The day goes by so quickly and your photographs and film will help keep the memory alive, so take the time to choose your photographer and cinematographer carefully.  They play an important part in the day.”

GEORGIA ROBERTS + CHRIS COSGROVE
24 NOVEMBER 2012
PEREGIAN BEACH + VUE DE LUMIERES, MALENY

Georgia and Chris were married on 24 November 2012 at Peregian Beach. The ceremony was held beside the Skate Bowl under the palm trees while a Jazz Band entertained their guests. The boys all arrived on skate boards. The band sang “Georgia” as the bride walked along the path with her Dad. The Marquee reception was held at Vue de Lumieres at Maleny. Tiny vintage skateboards were used as table decorations with small succulents in white wooden boxes placed on top. One of the couples’ surfboards was used for the seating plan. It was a lovely relaxed atmosphere, with a casual lounge area at one end of the Marquee for any guests to spend time after the formal dinner away from the music and dancing. Christopher and Georgia surprised their guests with a very well-rehearsed dance to The Cat Empire’s “Hello”… it was a huge hit!

PETER CRICHTON PHOTOGRAPHY

Alaina and Mitchell were married in Coolibah Downs Chapel and their reception was held at Watermark Hotel & Spa, Surfers Paradise. “Our wedding was bright, happy and fun. I grinned from the moment I woke up to the moment the evening finished. Our wedding was a true mix of a traditional yet modern occasion. It was everything any bride could ever dream of and a great day was had by all.”
BRIDE’S HIGHLIGHT
“My highlight of the day was gazing into Mitchell’s eyes whilst saying my vows and holding back the tears.”
GROOM’S HIGHLIGHT
“When the chapel doors opened to reveal my dad and I walking towards Mitchell… the moment every groom awaits.”
NEWLYWED ADVICE
“Take the time to research all avenues and add your own personal touches to your special day. Don’t be afraid to make things yourself as your guests will love it. But mostly enjoy all the preparation and planning as that special day is over in the blink of an eye!”

After spending 2009 living in San Diego together (Nick was sent there for work), Jane and Nick went to dinner to celebrate their time in the US and that’s when Nick proposed. The ceremony was at the Holy Spirit Catholic Church at New Farm. “A family friend was the celebrant, our mums lit a unity candle to unite the two families, friends and family read during the ceremony and we left the church to the joyful tones of bagpipes being played by two of Jane’s relatives.” Jane wore a Johanna Johnson dress and carried a bouquet of rich red, cream and soft pink David Austen roses which was created by a family friend. Hair and makeup was by The Powder Room. A reception followed at The Strand at Rugby Quay. “Jane’s brother was the MC and he did a fantastic job getting things off to a riotous start by getting all the wedding guests to join him in an impromptu sing-along to ‘Two Strong Hearts’ by John Farnham.” “Robin Foster of Foster Photography took onboard every suggestion we made about the photos we wanted and her organisational skills made our photo session enjoyable. We now have some gorgeous images to remember our wedding day by and our favourites will adorn the walls of our home for years to come.”
BRIDE’S HIGHLIGHT
“Walking up the aisle with my dad was a very emotional moment and I struggled to hold back the tears. When I saw Nick at the altar, gave him a sneaky little kiss and grabbed his hand, I felt so much more relaxed. That’s when I really started to feel so happy about the day. Hearing the speeches from my family and Nick was another highlight and the kind words will never be forgotten.”
GROOM’S HIGHLIGHT
“I definitely can’t nominate a single highlight. At the end of the night my mouth was sore from smiling so much – it was an all round fantastic day!”
NEWLYWED ADVICE
“Take some time during the reception to spend just a couple of moments alone to enjoy the occasion together. It is such a busy and happy day, and this time allowed us to appreciate what our day had meant to us.”

JULIANA TORENBEEK + MICHAEL COSGROVE
10 DECEMBER 2011
VUE DE LUMIERES, MALENY
PHOTOGRAPHY HAJLEY PETEIN

Juliana and Michael’s ceremony was held in the gardens of  Vue de Lumieres at Maleny.  “We wanted our ceremony to be at a picturesque and memorable location so Vue de Lumieres was the perfect choice!” Following the ceremony, guests made their way to the reception which was held in the adjoining garden where they could mingle outside or under the cover of a beautifully set marquee. “It was a cocktail style affair, with bar staff ensuring champagne glasses were readily filled and the delectable delights from Vue De Lumieres’ chef flowed continually throughout the afternoon. Upon dusk a help-yourself gourmet banquet was laid out for everyone to enjoy. We wanted an informal style reception for everyone to relax into the evening and enjoy the fun and frivolity of the event.”
BRIDE’S HIGHLIGHT
“It’s hard to pinpoint one highlight of the day as it was all so perfect! Dancing down the aisle was a lot of fun and making the ever so wonderful commitment to Michael will always remain close to my heart. However I have to say singing our wedding duet  ‘Kiss You All Over’ by Exile – a surprise we rehearsed for weeks – was a very memorable moment.”
GROOM’S HIGHLIGHT
“My highlight was without a doubt seeing my beautiful Jules dancing down the aisle to the tune of Barry White’s ‘Love Theme’ and all of the kids grooving on down leading her into the ceremony. I also loved performing our duet together for everyone, which was a highlight for many of our guests.”

Madeleine and Joshua met on North Stradbroke Island while attending a mutual friend’s birthday party. Madeleine had spent her childhood holidays on Stradbroke and the island held special memories for both of them. During a relaxing weekend picnic on Amity Beach, Josh surprised Madeleine with a marriage proposal as the sun was setting. Celebrant Sheryl Gotje performed their ceremony at Cutter Street Reserve and the reception was held at the Stradbroke Island Beach Hotel at Point Lookout. Madeleine’s dress was by Carmen Allen of  That Sewing Place and her hair was by Maree’s Hair Design. The transport was Classic 1978 white Chrysler Valiants, including one owned by Joshua.
BRIDE’S HIGHLIGHT
“The weather leading up to our wedding day had been less than desirable… overcast, wet and miserable! As the time for the ceremony approached, the clouds parted and as we said our vows the sun peeped through. That was the beginning of my perfect wedding day!”
GROOM’S HIGHLIGHT
“A combination of seeing everyone we know and love all coming together for our day and watching Madeleine arrive and walk down the aisle!”

Ashleigh and Benjamin are high school sweethearts, meeting when they were just 15 and 16. During a trip to Las Vegas for Ashleigh’s 21st birthday, Ben proposed at the top of the Eiffel Tower of the Paris Casino. After their ceremony at Churchie Chapel, the couple celebrated with their guests at an elegant reception at Customs House. Ashleigh wore a stunning Darb dress and her hair was styled by The Powder Room. Benjamin and his groomsmen wore Tony Barlow. The flowers were from Mondo Floral and the wedding cake was by Cake Star.”We collected vintage jars from second hand stores all around Brisbane and glued lace around them and added more flowers to the tables as we wanted a very romantic setting. My something old (my tiara and veil) was my Aunty’s and had been worn by other family members over the years.”The couple chose Hawaii for their honeymoon: “Because it is definitely the place to go if you are wanting some alone time as newlyweds!”
BRIDE’S HIGHLIGHT
“My highlight was everything! From waking up in the morning with my mum and bridesmaids to seeing Ben at the end of the aisle looking so handsome!”
GROOM’S HIGHLIGHT
“My highlight was seeing my beautiful wife at the top of the aisle in her dress! Another highlight was our first dance as Husband and Wife. All those months of wedding dancing lessons paid off!”
NEWLYWED ADVICE
“We would say to really take in the day. We snuck off for about 30 minutes the night of our wedding and just spent that time together so we could really take it in as the day/night goes way too fast! It was really nice to get that time together and look out onto our wedding and think wow our day has finally come! Also if you have a long lead up to the day… don’t wish it to come too fast… when it comes it will be the best day of your life!”

GROOM’S HIGHLIGHT
“Seeing Louise at the top of the aisle – I had no idea what to expect and I was just blown away when I saw her.”

COURTNEY ANDERSON + JAYCE BARKER
23 MARCH 2012
HYATT REGENCY CHAPEL + THE GRANGE, SANCTUARY COVE
BELINDA WRIGHT PHOTOGRAPHY

Courtney and Jayce were blessed with perfect weather for their Sanctuary Cove wedding. They were also blessed to have talented family and friends who contributed to making their day so perfect. Courtney and her mum, Katrina, own Angelic Hair in Kallangur and Courtney knew she could trust her mum to create stunning looks for her and the girls in her bridal party. Jayce’s mum, Tracey, is a wonderfully talented dressmaker and when she offered to create her dress, Courtney was overwhelmed. She loved the sentimental aspect of having her future mother-in-law create her dress which featured a structured boned silk bodice with detachable tulle bolero (all lovingly hand-beaded) and a full ruffled tulle skirt. The white chocolate and raspberry wedding cake was made by Lyn Evans, a close friend of Courtney’s mum and some other talented friends provided the music. The reception tables were all named after the places Jayce and Courtney would be visiting during their honeymoon… Hawaii, LA, New York, London, Paris, Nice, Venice, Florence, Rome and Santorini.
BRIDE’S HIGHLIGHT
“Jayce arranged for the groomsmen to come to our holiday house at Sanctuary Cove by boat and sing ‘Friday I’m in Love” to me then deliver a beautiful card from Jayce. Also the speeches – they were an emotional rollercoaster of laughter and tears and more laughter.”
GROOM’S HIGHLIGHT
“After not seeing each other for the week leading up to the wedding, seeing Courtney for the first time walking into the chapel literally took my breath away.”
NEWLYWED ADVICE
“Don’t stress! Ultimately the outcome of your wedding day is going to be the same no matter what, you will be married to your chosen one regardless of any small mishaps. Just enjoy every moment and take time throughout the day to stop, look around and take it all in! We also highly recommend having a videographer and getting a highlight reel… it is amazing to be able to watch it back and feel all the emotion all over again.”
